Lightning sets the Prophet's Mosque on fire

On 13 Ramadan of 886 AH (1481), lightning struck the minaret at the south-eastern corner of the Prophet's Mosque and started a fire. Two roofs, the minbar and the maqsura burned, but the inner dome over the Prophet's chamber was spared; the Mamluk sultan Qaitbay's renovation was completed in 888 AH (1483).
