The Battle of Hunayn ends in a major Muslim victory

Shortly after the conquest of Mecca, on Thursday morning, 11 Shawwal of 8 AH (630), battle was joined at Hunayn against the Hawazin and Thaqif tribes. Much of the 12,000-strong Muslim army at first fell back in disorder, but it regrouped, attacked again and won a major victory.
